|
We welcome you to our website and thank you for your committed support and enhancement of your child’s musical interests by seeking private instruction. Experienced InstructorsOur Christian instructors are inspiring musical and intellectual leaders in their field, who continually strive to expand themselves musically, intellectually and pedagogically for the growth and advancement of their students. These highly-qualified educators strive to provide valuable and stimulating learning experiences, appropriate to age, readiness level, learning style, goals and lifelong musical health. Several of our instructors are employed by Anoka-Ramsey Community College in Coon Rapids, contributing to the leadership of higher education needs in our local community as well.
Our ServicesPrivate Lessons - one-on-one, personalized weekly meetings* of instruction for piano, voice, guitar, winds and percussion. We recommend the consideration of: the student's age level, skill level and/or motivation as you choose the best suitable lesson length: 30 minutes, 45 minutes, or longer. Summer Program - packages of 8 lessons to extend private instruction all year round. These lessons must be completed between the middle of June to the middle of August (see GMA Calendar) but are moveable by both instructor and client to accommodate summer schedules. Topic specific group classes are also offered during the summer months. A few are: Rhythm Skills, Ear Training; Composition and Improvisation; Phrasing; Basic Theory Skills; Piano Proficiency Skills; and Improvement and Ease in Music Reading. Music camps, field trips and other special activities may also be scheduled.
Group Lessons - monthly Saturday sessions that usually involve more body movement and/or activities to approach musical concepts from multiple viewpoints and to further enrich and provide musical experience and skill mastery. Classes can be geared to students of like instruments but cover universal musical concepts so that more interaction between students of varied instruments may take place.
Special Offerings - 5 to 6-week topic-intensive courses led by Academy staff or guest performers, conductors and/or composers. Special advertisement and announcement will precede their occurrence.
Performances - opportunities for student public appearance provided by individual instructors as well as the Academy: two in-house recitals during the academic year with the possibility of and additional summer recital, continualopen invitation to contribute to Grace Lutheran Saturday/Sunday church services, community outreach programs, guest performers at the Academy, and field trips to professional concerts.
Ensembles - unique and smaller groups created for more individualized attention to the skills of performing with others. Collaboration between Academy instructor studios creates the opportunity for unique groupings of students/instruments.
