2008 Sr High Mission Trip
Wallace, (near Coeur d’Alene) Idaho, June 20-29, 2008
Take the Amtrak train through the scenic mountains of Idaho to Shoshone Base Camp near Wallace, ID. Wallace is in the northern Idaho panhandle and approximately 1,300 miles from Grace. While the communities around this area used to be affluent, the silver mining industry no longer supports the area. Because of this, the need is great.
Camp Lutherhaven has stepped in and we are going to assist them for a week. Some will help run a basketball camp for underprivileged children. Others will repair homes or meet other needs of low income residents possibly at the Native American reservation. Plus, there will be free time to explore: take a mountain hike, ride the gondola to the top of Silver Mountain, a canoe trip, go rock climbing, or go river tubing. Open to students and friends in grades 9-12.

traverse: high school ministry (grades 9-12)
“traverse” is High School ministry at Grace. To traverse means to travel or go across. High school is a time of a lot of traveling, a lot of crossing over…from passenger to driver, from child to young adult, from dependent to independent. Our faith during this time of life is similar; it’s transitioning from our parents’ faith to our own faith. Here is what we have to offer students as they traverse the mountains of life, faith and friendship:
base camp
“base camp” is our weekly senior high meeting. We meet every Sunday night from 5-7pm in the Youth Room. We alternate between Bible study, social opportunities and service events. Join us as we touch base each week and gain the tools and training to climb effectively. For more information, contact CT Harris.
outpost
“outpost” is our Sunday morning program for middle and high school students. This is an opportunity to go deeper into the Bible and learn from each other. In 2007-2008 we will be using two main resources on Sunday morning, including Studies on the Go (the book of John) and Conversations with Jesus.
Most weeks we will meet together as a large group, have time for discussion and interaction and then split up into our various age groups for a specific lesson.
Outpost meets Sunday from 9-10am in the Youth Room. For more information, contact CT Harris.
youth room
A big screen TV, comfortable couches and chairs, foosball table, myriad board games, PS2 and video games, snacks and a full size fridge for pop/water, and much more. The Youth Room has become our very own “locker room” and we love it. Thank you to those of you who have generously donated to these efforts; it makes a huge difference to have a place for students to call their own.
